Did you know that you can use the Web to check your credit report? Most financial advisers will tell you to check your credit report every so often to make sure that nothing unusual is going on. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars; instead, you can use the Web. Here are a few sites that can help you to check your credit report:
- Annual Credit Report: You can use this site to check your credit report for free from all three of the credit reporting agencies: "This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion."
- MyFico: Your FICO score is what lenders use to rate your credit history. You can purchase a look at your FICO score here (prices vary). You can also get some really great credit advice in the My FICO forums.
- FICO Score Estimator: Don't want to pay for anything? You can get a rough estimate of your credit score by using this estimator. Of course, it's just an estimate, but it could help you get an idea of what your credit score is and what you need to do to improve it.
