Definition: In the context of the Web, a mashup is a Web site, tool, or Web service that takes something (programming, functions, buttons, content, usage, etc.) from at least two different sources and puts them together in a new and useful way to make something completely original.

The term mashup can also refer to songs, videos, or audio tracks being mixed together to make something new and unique. These mashups are uploaded to video sites and music services in order to share them with the greater Web community.

"Good examples of useful Web mashups are Wikimapia, Rentomter, and WebListy."
