How to Find Blogs You'll Enjoy

Use a blog finder tool or search your favorite sites for a blog section

What to Know

  • To find blogs, use a search tool, blog finding platform, or blogrolls.
  • In the modern day, there are a lot fewer active blogs than there once were, so your options are limited.

It can be hard to find blogs to read among all the other content on the web. Between social media and other sites, they're hidden within tons of other content.

There are lots of reasons people blog. Blogs are all about personal, customized content, on nearly any subject you can possibly think of, from knitting to skiing or learning how to barbecue. If you're not sure what blog to follow, maybe you'll stumble on one about technology, crafts, parenting, fitness, sports, entrepreneurship, etc.

Whether it's a personal blog you're looking for or a professional one offered by a business, below are the best ways to find the ones that interest you.

Use a Blog Finder

Best of the Web Blog Directory

Some of the best blog sites have been curated by other people. They've taken the time to find online blogs and put them into a list that's easy for anyone to look through.

A web directory meant just for blogs is one way to find new ones to read. AllTop and Best of the Web are some examples. We have some suggestions, too, like for the best conservative blogs.

Find Blogs From a Blogging Platform

Blogspot search on Google

A blogging platform is what a blogger uses to publish their content. Depending on the site, you might be able to search for other blogs on that platform to find something new to read.

For example, if someone started a blog at Blogger, their website uses blogspot.com within the URL. You can run a web search for that using Google's inurl command (see the image above) to find all the sites that are hosted there.

Weebly.com and Typepad.com are other popular blogging platforms you could search for. Even just typing inurl:blog or site:blog will find loads of options.

Tumblr is another blogging platform, and finding ones to read there is even easier. Use the search bar at the top of the site to see what you can find with a keyword or two, or browse the site's trending page.

View a Blog's Blogroll

Blogroll on TomWoods.com

Blogrolls are collections of links placed on a blog that the writer enjoys and wants to recommend to you. If you have a favorite website that's updated regularly by someone you follow, they might have a list of blogs they recommend to their readers.

This is a great way to find blogs to read that are most likely related to the one you already like, and best of all, they're recommended by someone you trust.

Find a Blog on the Website

LRC Blog area of a website

Lots of websites have an area of the site that's dedicated solely to the company's or person's blog. An easy way to find a blog on a website you already visit is to look for a mention of it on the home page or somewhere in the menu.

If that doesn't work, you can find the blog with a search engine; just enter the company or person's name followed by the word blog. Some sites put their blog at the end of the domain name, such as example.com/blog.

A simple web search for Google's official blog shows that you can find it at blog.google.

A blog is sometimes wrapped up in a part of the site called the newsroom, but it usually functions in much the same way as a blog. For example, Meta Newsroom is Meta's blog.
