Here are some of the top viral videos around the Web today. A viral video is a video that has been passed around many times and has gained popularity largely by word of mouth, email, instant messaging, or online bulletin boards, rather than a publicity campaign. I've received all of these videos at least once by email.

1. The Backstreet Boys - "I Want It That Way" - Two Chinese Students and a Dream

Be ready to be wowed in this stunning lipsync of the Backstreet Boys hit single "I Want It That Way" by two Chinese students. By "wowed", I mean hypnotized slowly but surely by both the siren song of the Boys and the hipster moves of the two young men featured. Watch the guy in the back at the computer as he gradually gets into the groove...is he playing "Doom" back there? Funny video-but be warned: this song will be in your head all.day.long.

2. All Your Base Are Belong To Us

All Your Base Are Belong To Us is a video of actual video game clips, cobbled together (Japanese video game translated to English-bad English). Towards the end of the video you'll see other images as the computer voice chants over and over again "all your base are belong to us." What does this mean exactly? No one knows. But it's one of the most popular viral videos ever on the Internet.

3. Numa Numa Dance

Fly little butterfly! Fly! The Numa Numa dance will change your life. It will give you inspiration where you had none before, it will be the wind beneath your wings, it will...okay, none of these things will really happen, but it's a good way to waste some time instead of working on those budget projections.

4. Star Wars Kid-Original Star Wars Kid and Star Wars Kid Remixes

It's the Star Wars Kid! The sad thing is that the Star Wars Kid was really not trying to be funny when he made this video. Watch this Star Wars Kid and see yourself. Because making your way in the world today, takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away...and watch the Star Wars Kid video?

5. Demolition of the Seattle Kingdome

This happened right in my backyard, folks-well, kind of, I lived about 20 miles down the freeway. Anyway, I remember watching this on the news. It's amazing how much planning and statistics can go into blowing something up. Blowing something up that's REALLY BIG.

6. Whale Blows Up Video-aka Explosives and Mammals Don't Mix

A whale washed up on the Oregon coast, and whales are huge. Big. So, the folks in this lovely coastal town needed a solution, because the huge stinking whale carcass was driving away tourists. The logical thing seemed to be to blow it up and let scavengers eat the "big chunks." This plan sadly backfired, in a huge, disgusting, whale chunk rainfall all over the beach sort of way. The moral of the story? Explosives and mammals just don't mix. Ever. The end.

7. "Apache Boy" - Big Hair, Big Dance Numbers, Big Cheese Factor

The "Apache Boy" video by Danish pop star Tommy Seebach will go down in history as one of the few videos that have made me laugh so hard that I actually started crying and hiccuping at the same time. And it just gets funnier the longer you watch it. You think to yourself, "They can't really be taking themselves seriously" and THEY ARE. They totally do. The whole thing was a legitimate artistic expression...well, at least in Tommy Seebach's eyes.

8. How To Dance Like A White Guy

Act now! Buy your copy of "How to Dance Like a White Guy" and you'll learn all the latest hip moves: the Point to the Lord, the Honky Hump, the Move Around In A Circle, and many, many more! Call now while supplies last!

9. "It's A Big Ad-Such A Big Ad"-Carlton Draught's Big Ad

This "little" ad got passed around to hundreds of thousands of people; instead of a costly public relations ad campaign, the folks at Carlton Draught let the Internet do the work of selling their beer for them. Well, with the help of the Big Ad, of course. Extremely funny ad filled with many what looks to be rugby players and yellow robes.

10. Fifth Grade Devo-Whip It! Whip It Good!

One more reason why the Arts needs to be funded in public schools. Because when fifth grade kids get the music, no, the magic that is Devo, than we've succeeded in our task to educate our nation's children. Plus it's funny as all get out.
