Richard Bangs Adventures - Expedition Panama

By , About.com GuideFebruary 24, 2006

Follow me on:

Over at Yahoo's Richard Bangs Adventures, there's a really good series going on titled Expedition Panama-Searching for Panama's Pirate Past. Check out the slides and information; there's also past adventures: Climbing the Eiger and Expedition Thailand.

More Adventuring: Okay, so experiencing stuff on the Web is nothing like the real thing, but let's try it anyway:

  • National Geographic MapMachine-a Map Search Engine: National Geographic's Map Machine is a gigantic collection of all the National Geographic maps in a searchable online database. Use the Quick Map Search engine tool to find a place (city, country, region continent, US zip codes, etc.), browse antique maps, find country facts, and look at literally almost every mappable place on Earth.
  • National Geographic Expeditions - Free Lesson Plans, Activities, and Maps: If you are a teacher, home educator, or just someone who loves anything that National Geographic puts out (that would be me), you're going to want to check out National Geographic Expeditions. Get free lesson plans sorted by grade, geography activities both online and offline, and hundreds of free printer friendly maps.
  • NationalGeographic WildCam: Though this site is no longer live because of the annual rains in Botswana, there's still lots of great viewable clips.
  • Earthcam.com: Earthcam.com is a webcam search engine, with literally hundreds of live webcams around the world to choose from. You can search by categories, such as arts and entertainment cams, scenic cams, space and science cams, and lots more.
