Yahoo Search Engine Shortcuts

Search Faster with Yahoo Search Engine Shortcuts

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

Yahoo search engine shortcuts are a great way to search the Web more efficiently. Here are just a few Yahoo search engine shortcuts that you can use.
  • !ebay shoes: Search eBay for shoes, instantly (perhaps this is NOT a good one for those of us who already have a bit of a shopping issue?).
  • !mail websearch@yahoo.com: Instantly compose an email within Yahoo Mail to someone.
  • !wsf: Searches "weather san francisco" on Yahoo.
  • !my:Navigate to your My Yahoo page.
You can also create your own Yahoo Shortcut over at the Yahoo Open Shortcuts page, a great way to personalize Yahoo. Here are a few more Yahoo Shortcuts that other people have created (from the Yahoo Open Shortcuts page): And Yahoo has even more shortcuts available, here at the main Yahoo Shortcuts page:
  • Area code: type in an area code or phone number and find out where it's coming from.
  • Gas prices: type in "gas" and your zip code to find the lowest gas prices in your area.
  • Maps: type in an address, get a map of the area.
  • Traffic: type in a city and the keyword "traffic" to get traffic reports.
  • Local listings: For example, "pittsburgh pa plumber" to find plumbers in the Pittsburgh area.
  • Movie showtimes: Find showtimes with this shortcut, "showtimes 97110".
There are a LOT more shortcuts available to you with Yahoo Shortcuts, and I encourage you to pick a few and see how they start saving you some search time.
