Who came up with the term “Web 2.0”?

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

Question: Who came up with the term “Web 2.0”?
Answer: Most people would generally agree that Tim O’Reilly, founder of the O’Reilly technology publishing house, originally came up with the concept of Web 2.0 after witnessing the crash of so many dot.com businesses in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.

Web 2.0 refers to the reinvention of many Web sites and services becoming more people-oriented rather than data-driven: content is still important, but sharing and collaboration are definitely the new ideas that are taking off.
