If you have a file you need to share online - any kind of file - and you'd like to keep it private, try
Drop.io: a free storage service that lets you store files quickly and privately. Here's how it works:
- Go over to Drop.io.
- Click on the green Add Files button. Nope, no signup required.
- Name the drop something intuitive; for instance, if you upload a resume, you could call it "John's Resume".
- Add a password (this is optional; if you want to make sure that only you and anyone else you give the password to are the only ones to access the file you upload to Drop.io, then you want a password).
- Pick your expiration date: Drop.io files typically are not available, or "expire", after two weeks. You can stretch this out longer.
- Click on how much access you're going to allow to your files: view only, view and add notes, or view, add notes AND files. Click on Drop.
- Once you've finished, you'll be taken to your Drop.io dashboard, where you'll see your unique and private URL, along with all the files you've uploaded. You can view these in chronologically, media view, or interactive.
That's pretty much it! If you need quick, private storage, I highly recommend
Drop.io as the way to go.
