Common Mistakes in Web Site Submission

I remember the first time I ever submitted a website to a search engine. I pressed “Submit”, and then leaned back with a satisfied grin, expecting crowds of customers. Three weeks later, when my site was still not showing up in the search results, I panicked and submitted the site again. And again. And, to my embarrassment, even once more. I learned the hard way that site submission is not an instant ticket to high ratings; in fact, some search engines and directories (Yahoo being one of them) can take up to 12 weeks to index your site (plus, if you keep submitting, you run the risk of being banned altogether). So, be patient. Check back every once in a while, and make sure your site is optimized for search. Remember: if you optimize it, they will come.
