How do I find something on the Web?

That's a big question, and one that can be difficult to know exactly where to start in order to answer it correctly. Here are some articles that I would begin with:

What are the best search engines?

Another big question that's difficult to answer! Really, this depends on personal preference. Here are some articles that can help answer this question:
  • What is a Search Engine?: Exactly what is a search engine? Basically, a search engine is a software program that searches for sites based on the words that you designate as search terms.
  • Do Search Engines Really Answer Questions?: Many people mistakenly believe that search engines - which are basically extremely complicated database, search, and retrieval programs - can intuitively answer any question you put to them. Unfortunately, this is not true.

How can I find those free movies/music/TV/books that everyone's talking about?

There are plenty of places you can find these goodies on the Web. Here's my favorites:
  • Free Movie Downloads: Free movie downloads are more common than you think on the Web. You won't find the most recent blockbuster here, but you will find a huge amount of classics, trailers, independent films, documentaries, and more.
  • Free Online TV: Did you know that you can watch free online TV channels? Here's a few of the best sites you can watch free TV online.
  • Free Downloadable Music: Free downloadable music on the Web really does exist; as long as you're willing to listen to music other than what's on the radio and top 40 (for the most part).
  • Top 10 Ways to Find Multimedia on the Web: Finding multimedia on the Web is easy with my picks for some of the best free movie downloads, free audio clips, and free image sites on the Web. Use these sites to find some great audio files, BitTorrent files, free movie downloads, movie trailers, and all kinds of multimedia.
  • Free eBooks on the Web:There are a ton of sites that offer free eBooks on the Web. Here are a few sites where you can find free downloadable eBooks.
