Search engine submission - submitting a site's URL to a search engine or Web directory in the hopes that it will be indexed more quickly - is no longer absolutely necessary, since search engine spiders usually will find a well-developed site on their own. However, it certainly doesn't hurt to submit your site to search engines and Web directories, and best of all, it's free. Here are six places on the Web you can use to submit your site.
Note: Search engine submission, while certainly helpful, is not a magic bullet. Remember to:
1. Google Search Engine Submission
Google's search engine submission couldn't be easier; just enter in your URL, a quick verification, and you're done.

4. Submit Your Site to Yahoo
Yahoo's search engine submission process has a few steps to it. First, you'll need to have a Yahoo account (free). Type in your URL, and click Enter. Then, in order to authenticate your site ownership for Yahoo, you can either add a META tag to your home page, or upload a verification file to your site (Yahoo walks you through both of these scenarios).

5. Ask Search Engine Submission

6. Submit Your Site to Alexa
Submitting your site to Alexa couldn't be simpler. Type in your URL, wait 6-8 weeks, and you're in.
