Avoid Search Engine Stumbling Blocks

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

There are certain things you can do on your site that search engines will find hard to index, therefore making your site less accessible to their spiders. Here are some things you can do to help them out:
  • Have an efficient navigation system that clearly interlinks all your pages.
  • Make a site map for easier navigation as well.
  • If you have to use frames, create an alternative so spiders can get in; either by meta tags or another page.
  • Avoid getting too fancy. Spiders won't appreciate your snazzy designs if they can't index them.
