Here are the Top Twenty Web Celebs: the people who didn't necessarily set out to be well-known, but ended up famous anyway due to the viral power of the Web.
1. Leslie Hall
I love Leslie Hall; not only because she is the Keeper of the Gems, but also because she simply rocks my socks off with her gold pantsuit, her many, MANY sweaters, and her rockin' beats.
2. Peter Pan
Yes, there really is a "real" Peter Pan, and his name is Randy Constan. His site consists basically of Peter Pan-nish writings and lots of pictures of him in his homemade pixie outfits.
3. Chad Vader
You've heard of Darth Vader, right? Well, Chad Vader is the younger, less popular brother of Darth who works as an assistant manager at a grocery store.
4. LonelyGirl15
LonelyGirl15 is the Web persona of a teenage girl who decided to put her life online through a series of videos that detailed her boyfriend issues, her parents as part of a cult, etc. The videos (and LonelyGirl15 herself) were later found out to be part of an elaborate hoax.
5. LisaNova
LisaNova is a hilariously funny comedian who has a series of short video parodies; all very low budget, all very funny. She gained so much popularity over this past year that she became a castmember on the popular Fox show "MadTV".
6. Chris Crocker
Chris Crocker was famous this year primarily for his video pleading for people to leave troubled pop siren Britney Spears alone (see it here: Leave Britney Alone). The jury is still out if he was serious or just joking around; either way, he's horribly mesmerizing.
7. Tila Tequila
The lovely Tila Tequila started out as a popular MySpace artist and moved on eventually to her own reality show ("A Shot At Love"). Best known for her modeling gigs in Penthouse, Maxim, and Stuff; as well as her singing and songwriting skills.
8. Fake Steve Jobs
Fake Steve Jobs is a blog written by someone claiming to be Apple CEO Steve Jobs; obviously, it's not Steve, but it's definitely someone who knows their Mac stuff. Always good for a laugh, and sometimes even thought-provoking (not often, but it happens).
9. Tron Guy
Remember the movie "Tron", about humans who get sucked into an alternate universe video game/computer world? Well, the Tron Guy LOVES that movie and made an extremely realistic costume and Web site to celebrate it.
10. Chuck Norris
You might already know about Chuck Norris from his many marital arts films and popular television shows, but what you probably don't know is that behind Chuck Norris's beard, there is only another fist. Yes, it's true - and you can find more of these pithy sayings at the official Chuck Norris Facts site.
