AuctionMapper eBay Auctions Maps

One thing I would have really liked to see on this map is the distance in miles from your original home destination - sometimes you can save on shipping the closer the item is to you. However, since AuctionMapper is still in beta I expect that this feature will be added soon.

Wave your mouse over the pins on the map, and you'll get a brief synopsis of what that auction is about, how much time is left, how many bids, and the current price. In addition, you can use the scroll button on your mouse to zoom in and out of the map, or use the map controls at the bottom of the map window.

A couple more things about the map that I need to mention: AuctionMapper is definitely not US-centric. You can uncheck the box at the top of the search screen that is for US only, and you'll get an interactive map of the entire world. You can also use the Options pull-out window to the far right of the map (this would be another feature that needs to be more clearly marked).

Here's how Map Options works: Click on it, and a nifty window will slide out. Here's where you can specify exactly how far away you want an item to be, along with even more parameters for the auction itself; such as end time, words to exclude, buy it now only, items listed as lots (this is an extremely useful feature), and more.

AuctionMapper.com - Well Worth A Bookmark

I could go on and on about AuctionMapper - it's seriously such a fun search engine, and it's just so well done. I found it hard to believe that it was only in beta! There are just a few tweaks I would love to see in AuctionMapper:
  • Make AuctionMapper access other auction sites. There are more auction sites out there (see my list of Online Auctions). It would be really cool to have AuctionMapper not only search eBay, but other auction sites - this would be more along the lines of an auction metasearch engine.
  • Make searches savable. There should be some way that searches and settings can be saved and personalized; maybe an email to a friend widget as well.
  • Make the Options pull-out window more accessible. It's hard to find if you're not looking for it, and it's an excellent way to narrow down your searches.
I would highly recommend that you use AuctionMapper to find eBay auctions; it's an extremely well-designed site and a very useful Web search engine.
