Home Page

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

Definition: A home page is usually one of two things on the Web:
  • The main page of a Web site is called the "home page". An example of a home page would be About.com. This page displays navigational links to categories that are part of the site as a whole.
  • The page that your browser opens up on can also be called a home page. For example, if you set your browser to always open with your company's Web site, that would be your personal home page (for more on how to do this, read How To Set Your Browser's Home Page).
Also Known As: anchor page, main page, index
Examples: "I set my home page to always open up on ESPN.com."
