What is Google Video?:
Google Video, part of Google's vast stable of
niche Web search offerings, is a great place to watch free videos and movies of all kinds from Google Video,
YouTube, and other video search sites.
How to use Google Video:
Google Video, much like Google's other Web services, is extremely easy to use. There are a number of ways you can find free videos and movies on Google Video:
All Google videos are viewable within your browser, and most are in high-quality video resolution. In order to watch the videos, you can simply click on the video title, or click on the video image itself.
How to filter your Google Video search results:
Basic
Web search tips apply here at Google Video just like they do the rest of the Web, especially using
quotations around your search query: "2008 summer olympics", for example.
Once you've typed in a phrase and gotten a page of search results back, Google Video gives you a few more search options at the top of the page. Use the dropdown menu to filter the dates of the videos you're looking for (most recent, last month, all dates, etc.), or to filter how long of a video you're looking for (anything from less than 4 minutes to more than 20 minutes).
Why should I use Google Video:
Google Video offers a reasonably good Web video experience. I especially enjoy the special Google Video series, such as
UC Berkeley on Google Video,
Top 100 - Google Video,
NARA on Google Video, and the
TED Talks. Hint: if you're looking for
full-length movies on Google Videos, change the duration to more than 20 minutes. You'll get a lot of great results this way.
