Google Talk Basics

Here are the basics you need to know about Google Talk:
  • It's a great way to chat with other people. Not only can you chat easily, you can save your chats to Gmail. Later, if you can't remember exactly where you put your chats, you can find them using Google Desktop.
  • You can send files using Google Talk. This is a brand new feature at the time of this writing.
  • Chat and voice available. If you have a microphone, you can easily talk to your Google Talk contacts for as long as you want.
  • Talk to anyone. If your contact is not a Google Talk user, no problem - Google Talk supports open standards (all this means is that anyone from any other IM service can still chat with you).

What I Like About Google Talk

I'm not a huge fan of most instant messenger clients because they entwine themselves all over my computer and are hard to uninstall. Not so with Google Talk - it's a fast, light download and I was able to test-uninstall it easily. Heard enough? Go ahead and

download Google Talk.
