Using the Web to talk instantly in real-time is possible with instant messenger clients. Here are a few of the best instant messenger programs on the Web.
  • AOL Instant Messenger: one of the oldest instant messenger clients around and most widely used.
  • Yahoo Instant Messenger: share photos, files, and even free PC to phone calls.
  • MSN Messenger: "the world's most popular instant messenger network."
  • ICQ.com: "From the first internet-wide instant messaging service launched in 1996, ICQ is CNET's all time most popular download and was labeled the world's fastest growing community."
  • Google Talk: relatively new at the time of this writing. Simple and easy to use.
