The Web can help you do a lot of things, and if you're looking for a roommate, you'll be able to use these "find a roommate" sites to help you out. Here are just a few that I've rounded up:
  • RoommateClick: Fill out a profile and get matched to someone who has compatible habits.
  • International Student Roommate Tool: Find a roommate in the US, the UK, or Australia.
  • Roommates.com: a large roommate finder service; looks to be completely free.
  • RoomMate Nation: Find a roommate, rent a room; great for college students.
  • Roomster: "Roomster.net is an advanced roommate matching site where members are matched with potential roommates using their own personality traits to create better matches."
  • PerfectHousemate: for those looking for a flatmate in the UK.
  • Craigslist: Craigslist is the first place I would go when looking for a roommate. Check out Rooms and Shares, Sublets, or Housing Wanted in whatever city you're located in, all over the world.
Note: not all these services are free, so please read the fine print. And here's a great service for you when you're thinking of finding a roommate - iOweYou, an online calculator to divvy up living expenses with no fuss at all.
