How to Use the Web for an Area Code Search

By Wendy Boswell, About.com

Use a Search Engine for an Area Code Search

If you're trying to figure out what part of the country a U.S. area code is related to, all you need to do is type in the area code into most any search engine. This works best in Google, Yahoo, Ask, and MSN Search; although both AOL Search and A9 semi-support it (you'll have to click on a few things to get to the area code information).

Websites that Specialize in Area Code Search

  • BT Phonebook: Use this site to find area codes in the UK.

  • LincMad: A visual representation of area codes in both the United States and Canada.
  • International Dialing Codes: Here are calling codes for nearly every country in the world; a fantastic resource you can print out and keep in your suitcase.
  • Country Codes: This site asks you what country you're calling from and to in order to assign the correct country code and/or area code.
