Find a Domain Name with Domain Search Sites and Services

The term "domain" is just another way of defining one computer's address on the Net. You can do a domain search on the Web quite easily with this list of domain search sites and services.

Domain Search Sites

  • ICANN.org Accredited Registrars. This is where accredited and other qualified organizations are officially recognized to register domain names by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN for short. This is a good place to start to make sure the company you go with to register your domain name is on the up and up.
  • NetworkSolutions.com. These folks have been around for a while. They were the first official registrar of domain names, and have the biggest registry (over 8 million at the time of this writing.).
  • Register.com. These folks have been around for over ten years and offer a full gamut of domain name and registration services.
  • NORID. Check this site to find domain name registries from all over the world. Very extensive list.
  • DomainSearch.com. Search multiple domain names from around the world, by entering a name and the country that you're interested in. Click on "Popular Picks" to see what other people are searching for worldwide.
  • Legal Domain Information. Lots of legal mumbo-jumbo that you probably need to read over when looking to register a domain name.

Choose very carefully what organization you go with when registering your domain name. The above domain name search and domain registration services are considered the "cream of the crop", and have years of experience and many satisfied customers behind them.
