Where to Find Free Images

Looking for free images? Here are thirty sites where you can find completely free images, available for use on your blog or web site. All of these sites offer royalty free images for your use (be sure to check each site for specific guidelines that they request you follow in order to use their images).

21. Spffy

A great way to find free images. You have a few different ways to search: via a dedicated stock photo image resource search, web photos (Flickr especially), or in the public domain.

22. PicFindr

You can use PicFindr to search through several free image sites at the same time; it's kind of a metasearch engine for stock photography.

23. Fotorama

Gorgeous quality free images; you'll especially want to check out the Nature photography section.

24. Public Domain Photos

Over 5000 high quality photos here for both personal and commercial use.

25. Public Domain Pictures

A personal collection of royalty free photos available for both personal and commercial use.

26. Free Photos for Personal and Commercial Use - Moka

Over 2000 good quality photos and images here available for both personal and commercial use; categories range from Abstract to Sports.

27. Public Domain Images

Karen's Whimsy offers free public domain images: "hundreds of scans of beautiful images from my collection of old books, magazines, and postcards. They are all from material printed prior to 1923 and are in the public domain."

28. Open Clip Art Library

The Open Clip Art Library offers over 7000 user-contributed clip art images available for both personal and commercial use.

29. Burning Well

Burning Well is a great place to find free images: "BurningWell is a repository for public domain (free for any use) images. You are free to download, copy and use the photos you find here for any purpose. These free images were donated by photographers from around the world."

30. Gimp-Savvy

Thousands of free images from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). All of these images are in the public domain, but individual restrictions might still apply, so check the individual image requirements carefully.
