Explore the Smithsonian online

Wednesday July 25, 2007
One of my favorite things to do on the Web is explore museums that I would one day like to visit in person - and the Smithsonian is definitely on my top ten list. Here are just a few of the discoveries that I made today:

The above image is from the Treasures of American History exhibit: "Selected from more than three million in the Museum's collections, the objects in this exhibition include a mix of the famous and the familiar, the unexpected and the extraordinary. All are treasures of American history."

Now, this one is from the exhibit titled Jamestown, Quebec, Santa Fe: Three North American Beginnings, all about the earliest beginnings of America.

See that? That's the Hope Diamond, just one of the many exhibits available at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

More museums on the Web: Almost every great museum in the world has their own Web site. Here are just a few of the museums that you can visit via the Web in my article titled Find a Museum on the Web.

How about archives? Yep, you can find these on the Web as well - read more in my article titled Find an Archive on the Web.
