I just ran across a really useful search tool for schools (K-12), universities, and even public libraries through the National Center for Education Statistics from the U.S. Department of Education. This comes in especially handy if you're looking for schools or libraries in your local area. Simply type in your zip code, your state, and what kind of institution you're looking for, and the search tool will return a list of links to schools, private schools, colleges, and libraries in your neighborhood, including the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • County
  • Grades
  • Distance
  • Demographics
  • Enrollment data

This tool comes in handy especially if you're moving to a new area and you're not sure of where your services are located; you can also use it to get a quick glimpse of what your local schools, colleges, and libraries are offering.
