Good advice, It’s sometimes difficult to access even the most legitimates sites. For example our students from certain countries find it difficult to access our site which is purely meant for educational purposes.

    Unfortunately, this phenomenon is increasing.
The internet is a great source of information and as such should be kept free for all.

Thank you for these helpful tips, these can be very helpful since it sometimes occurs on online MBA students. They couldn’t access an important information that is part of their curriculum. I can’t understand why some sites get blocked even though it’s not doing any bad to anyone. I hope they could do something about this. But anyway, it’s good that here are ways to unblock a website. Thank very much! I’m very glad that I came across your site. It’s very helpful. I appreciate your effort of sparing some time to share this with us. I hope you keep up the great job.

I noticed VPN services tend to work much better than other things like proxies, tor, Firefox plugins etc. I used http://www.highspeedvpn.com/ when I worked abroad in UAE, unblocked all sites and even Skype.

Proxies and VPNs are all blocked if you are using a company or university network. After much research I found that you need a VPN that uses “generic” ports. Right now I`m using this OpenVPN service:.

They have a “bypass firewall” option with their software, so it works OK from the office too, even though speed is slower with the option ON.
