Mystery Google - what is it?

If you'd like to add a little bit of spice to your search today, check out Mystery Google, a custom search engine designed to show you what the person in front of you just searched for.

Obviously, it's not a tool for when you need quick, accurate search results (you'll want to try this list of search engines for that). However, if you just want a little distraction, this is awesome.

For instance, I typed in "tabby cat" and got back results for how to beat homesickness. The query "baseball bat" got "Your boss is watching! Alt-Tab! Alt-Tab!". And the search for "potato soup" got "will you go out with me". Try it out, I promise you'll get a laugh or two!

Funny how even something like this is immediately turned into a tool for spammers. My search returned “I am a 19 y/o f, see my pictures at…”

Yes, and I think it’s horrible that they actually give out your cell number without you knowing. I got several msgs from strangers today that I don’t appreciate and it wasn’t because I was playing around on Mystery Google. I had never heard of it until I finally asked someone how they got my number. And so far it’s been impossible to find information on how to block your information from being givin out on this.

If you’re getting messages because of Mystery Google, that means one of your friends is giving out your number and telling people to call you with specific instructions on what to say to you.

So you should probably speak to your friends, not Mystery Google.

Would you, let’s say, go on http://www.google.com and those search findings be put into Mystery Google?

I find it somewhat amusing that Google doesn’t link you directly to Msyery Google, and on Mystery Google, if you type in Google, it will say, “No. MYSTERY Google.” Very confusing. x3

But the fun of it is giving someone a “mission”. So type in something along the lines of “text me at ###_#### and tell me a joke” or “email me at Blah@blah.com and tell me what book you’ve liked recently” or similar. The Mystery is in who will answer you & where they will be.

Does anyone know what ” your session has timed out. Please try your search again.” means because it just keeps saying that after I search something.

I can’t get on Mystery Google. Every time I search it all that come up is: “Firefox can’t find the server at www. mysterygoogle.com”.

Has the site been taken down or something?
