deepdyveIf you're looking for scholarly research on a topic, you'll want to try DeepDyve, a search engine focused on the Deep Web. Here's how DeepDyve works:

  • Type in a query, say Pluto.
  • Too much information? You can use the search suggestions to the right (facts about pluto, pictures of pluto, pluto dog), or you can highlight a sentence/phrase in your search results and use that as a search stem.
  • For instance, in one of my Pluto search results was the phrase solar system during the Cretaceous period. I highlighted it and was able to search for that subject, quickly and easily.

DeepDyve pulls results from a variety of scholarly sources; they rely WAY too heavily on Wikipedia, but I'm hoping that will change as they find more sources to add.
