Check out the LIFE photo archive!

Wednesday June 10, 2009
One of my favorite new finds is the LIFE Photo Archive hosted by Google. In this wonderful archive going back to the 1750s (seriously!), you can browse thousands of photographs, many of which have never been seen before. There are a few ways you can access these images:
  • By decade
  • By people, places, events, sports, or culture
  • By adding source:life to any search string, you can see if there's a LIFE photo for your query. For example, michael jordan source:life.
There are some seriously amazing photos that you can see here: I've found a wonderful old photo of Walt Disney sitting in front of framed Disney characters, an early photograph of Marilyn Monroe posing in the studio, a heartwrenching Depression-era photo, and an 1875 view of the Colorado River. You don't want to miss this archive!
