NOTE: Many readers are reporting that Spokeo is charging fees to access their services. Try these free resources instead - NEVER give out your personal financial information to a people search site!

How many social networks do you belong to? Do you have an account at:

Well, chances are, if YOU have an account at any of these services, than you have friends who do as well: after all, that's kind of the point of social networking sites. In order to keep up with what your friends are doing on all these various networks, you need to sign in and see what's shaking, right? This can be kind of a time drain, especially if you are invested in several sites.

Enter Spokeo, a way to track your friends across 22 different social networks so you don't have to visit each one individually. All you do is enter your webmail address, and Spokeo imports your email relationships (securely; they don't save the info) to find out what your friends and family might be up to. For example, I was able to see updated social activity of over one hundred of my friends and family using Spokeo....all in one, convenient, easily accessible place. Very cool.

More on social networking

  • Ten Social Community Web Sites You Might Not Know About: One of the primary concepts underpinning the Web 2.0 movement has to be that of community: sharing content and ideas with others on the greater Web. Social community sites on the Web offer the searcher anything from shopping to fitness.
  • Top Ten Social Bookmarking Sites: What are social bookmarking sites? Basically, these are sites that allow users to post their favorite sites, using tags (or keywords) to categorize and organize them; then other users can take these bookmarks and add them to their own collection or share them with even more users. Here are some of my favorite social bookmarking sites that I use every single day.

Spokeo can be somewhat intrusive too as anyone who has your email address can follow you on there…but we suppose it’s the risk that you run by putting things on the net!
