How to Pick a Search Engine

Monday February 26, 2007
Did you know that there are many, many search engines out there? Yes, that's true - Google, Yahoo, and AOL are not the only game in town.

If you'd like to try out a different search engine, one that perhaps is not what you're used to and takes a unique look at the Web, then read How to Pick a Search Engine. This article is in a question and answer format, and links to profiles and tutorials of the many search engines that I've profiled this year.

Related: Take a look at the 100 Search Engines in 100 Days Table of Contents. This was a feature I did in the fall of 2005, with a new search engine profiled every day for 100 days.

Photo Gallery: Browse through fifty different search engine logos (with more being added) at the Search Engine Photo Gallery.

Free Online Class: Want to learn how to search the Web using search engines and syntax - or just find all those sites that everyone's always buzzing about? Try my free online class, Web Search 101. You can take your pick of either daily or weekly lessons that will be delivered to you via email.

Search Engine Quiz: Test your knowledge of Google with the fun Google Quiz, or just search engines in general with the Search Engine Quiz.

Hi,

Here is a question for anyone who may know the answer…

I have a new website with google ads on it. If I get 10 clicks per day on my ads, does google favor my site over and above others that may be in the same category that don’t run google ads?

I was thinking to some extent they might, so they can make more money.

Do you know anything about this?

Thanks, and I look forward to your reply.
