Yahoo Tech

Monday May 1, 2006
This via Threadwatch, Yahoo has opened up its very own technology channel titled - what else - Yahoo Tech. The site intends to be a technology portal of sorts, with content grabbed from such publications as PCWorld and Dummies.com, product reviews, and tech advisors that answer FAQ.

You can personalize Yahoo Tech with your own favorite products, recently viewed articles, and recent searches. I'd like to see this personalization expand a bit with the ability to share your favorites with other Yahoo Tech channel users other than just emailing them; perhaps we could integrate Yahoo 360 or Yahoo My Web here.

There are also Yahoo Tech Advisors where you can get "daily, real-world advice without the jargon", and you also have the opportunity to ask questions via Yahoo Answers; for instance, I just asked the pretty bland question how do I hook up my printer cable and got a few answers back.

Overall I like what I see; as always, Yahoo does a great job of rolling out new fun stuff for us all to use.

More about Yahoo:

  • Yahoo Cheat Sheet: Here are the top Yahoo Search Shortcuts that will make your Yahoo search experience fast, fun, and ultimately efficient.
  • Ultimate Yahoo Search List: There are many special Yahoo search properties that are not part of its searchable subject index and search engine listings. Here are just a few, including Yahoo Music, Yahoo News, Yahoo Games, etc.
  • Yahoo Reference: Yahoo has a plethora of great reference materials available for pretty much anything you want to look up. Here are just a few of the great resources that Yahoo Reference and Yahoo Education have to offer.
