Google Related Links Now Available
Tuesday April 4, 2006
Google Related Links is now up and running; this from the site:
"Webmasters can place Related Links units on their site to provide visitors with links to useful information, including related searches, pages and news. Any webmaster can host a unit on their website and start serving links to content that is targeted to the topic on that page."Basically, you're putting a small snapshot of related Google searches on your site, so users can have the opportunity to....go to other sites. Hmmm. Not sure how this will benefit webmasters or anyone that has their own site or blog. Google Related Links FAQ has this to say about how it will benefit folks:
"Related Links uses the power of Google to automatically bring fresh, dynamic and interesting content links to any website. They provide a fast and automated way to display related searches, pages, and news on their sites."So it's for a good user experience, but again, not sure how this will benefit the webmasters. And there's no revenue stream to come from it either: "We hope that with this product, you can make your site even more useful to your visitors by providing them with links to information they are interested in." Just usefullness...which really is a good thing. (but some extra $$$ from Google would be nice too)
