Phone in your podcasts with GCast

Wednesday February 22, 2006
Cool! This via Monkey Bites; there's a new service out called GCast that allows you to basically phone in your podcast - that's right, no microphones or other such equipment necessary. More from Monkey Bites:
"Here's a site for anyone who's considered podcasting but balked because of technical issues or lack of hardware. It's called GCast, and it's a free service that lets you record your podcast by calling a toll-free telephone number and speaking into a voicemail-style recording tool. They also offer free hosting, browser-based mixing tools, and podcast-safe music downloads. Another cool feature is GCast's embeddable player, which is featured on their home page. The little player, which you can drop into any page, has a short description of your audio content as well as a play/pause button that lets people start listening without leaving the page."
GCast is from the same geniuses who came up with GarageBand, a site that I visit quite frequently since I love to find new, non-sucky music. And if you're already a registered user of GarageBand, you'll be automatically signed into GCast, something I found out when I clicked on the "create your own free podcast" button.

Okay, so I just created my first podcast! Click here to listen to your own Web Search Guide make a complete and utter fool of herself. Who knows; maybe I'll make this a regular thing! If you'd like to hear this as a regular feature here at About Web Search, please let me know in the comments section below.

Wendy, this is awesome! I’ve tried and tried to understand how to publish a podcast and have never been able to figure it out. And, believe me, I’m no dummy when it comes to computers! GCast makes it so easy! I just created my first and plan to do many more and post on my son’s website. Thanks so much for posting this! Here’s my first podcast:
