Get Help with your Research Paper

Sunday January 29, 2006
I was in college all last year (taking the year off now), and getting my research done online was simple with these resources. Here's just a few of the research helps I found on the Web:

Science Search Engine: Scirus is a search engine dedicated only to finding science-related resources on the Web. According to the site, Scirus searches over 200 million science-specific web pages, filtering out those results that are not science related in order for you, the user, to quickly pinpoint what it is that you're looking for.

Find Homework Answers Fast: Sometimes you might have a question that needs a short, factual answer. That's where Answers comes in. Instead of going to your favorite search engine and typing in a query, then sorting through various links to find the answer that you are looking for, Answers.com "displays quick, snapshot answers with concise, reliable information."

Magazine Articles: MagPortal is a great research tool that enables the user to find magazine articles on the Web from a variety of different publications.

Search for Journals, Publications, Articles: FindArticles is a search engine dedicated to finding articles "from leading academic, industry and general interest publications." It's an invaluable tool for the casual and advanced Web searcher.

Reference Sites: There are a ton of great reference sites out there; I've made a list of a few of my favorites.

Web Archives: If you're looking for historical information about past news, music, celebrities, or historical events, then searching online archives is a great way to keep yourself educated and "in the know".
