Yahoo Buys del.icio.us

Saturday December 10, 2005
From the New York Times:
"Yahoo, the online media company, said Friday that it had acquired Del.icio.us, a small Internet start-up company, in a move to expand its social networking services.

Del.icio.us is a nine-month old company that provides software for bloggers, the writers of online diaries that have proliferated on the Web. Specifically, the company stores links to Web sites or bookmarks so the readers of blogs, as well as other Web sites, can use them and share them."

The reputed price tag for del.icio.us was around $30 million or so; not bad for a site that's not been around that long. This was a good move for Yahoo - their stable of recent acquisitions includes Flickr and Konfabulator.
