Thanksgiving Menus at the Most Expensive Restaurants in America

Wednesday November 23, 2005
While most of us will be feasting on such Thanksgiving staples as turkey, pumpkin pie, and cranberry sauce, there are quite a few restaurants that are offering more unique Thanksgiving fare. Here's a few Thanksgiving menus from some of the most expensive restaurants in America - my guideline for "expensive" means more than $50 per person.
  • Seattle Space Needle Thanksgiving Day Menu: Includes your choice of Northwest crab cakes, Maine lobster bisque, or Alderwood Smoked Chinook Salmon.
  • Alinea Restaurant in Chicago has two online menus to choose from; the first one is $125 (per person) and you'll get to munch on wild char roe and pheasant; the second comes in at a mere $85 (!!!!) and gives the discriminating diner hearts of palm, squab, and dry caramel.
  • The Herbfarm in Seattle offers a plethora of "seasonal dinner themes" including "An American Harvest" and "The Hunter's Table." Prices? "Herbfarm 9-Course Dinners with all wines are between $159 and $189 per person plus tax and service."
  • The French Laundry: This San Francisco restaurant offers three menus that change on a daily basis, all starting at $175 per person. A sample menu includes foie gras, fourme d'ambert, or sauteed fillet of Atlantic striped bass.
  • The Inn at Little Washington has prices, excuse me, "rate listings" starting at $138 per person, but you can go nuts and reserve a table for six for $450. Sample menus include Ham and Frizzled Ramps, Pecan-Crusted Soft Shell Crab Tempura with Italian Mustard Fruit, or A Fricasse of Maine Lobster with Potato Gnocchi and Curried Walnuts.
  • Le Bec-Fin: At only $138 per person, Le Bec-Fin of Philly is a bargain. Try the Dinner Menu, which includes "Thon marine aux herbes, salade de coeur de palmier, vinaigrette au radis noir" (Marinated tuna with herbs, hearts of palm salad flavored with horseradish).
