Google Earth Compromising Security?

Monday October 17, 2005
From the India Times:
"Speaking to The Times of India, India science and technology secretary V S Ramamoorthy said, 'What is a matter of great concern is the sufficient resolution provided by the satellite images on Google Earth posing a security threat to various installations'.

"At the moment, the ministry, in close coordination with other security agencies, is evaluating the images of the sensitive locations, he said."

"Echoing the concern over images provided by Google Earth already expressed by countries like Thailand, Netherlands and South Korea, President A P J Abdul Kalam said, 'You will realise that some of the developing countries, which are facing danger of terrorist attacks, have been singularly chosen to provide such high resolutions'."

The thing about Google Earth is that images are not in real time. For example, my house on Google Earth shows data from three years ago (!!!!). So honestly, while I understand the government of India and other countries' concern, these images are neither live, nor updated frequently.
