- Websearch: are you still on? I'm reading your Bloglines feed... Sent at 10:12 PM on Thursday
- chris.pirillo: no just ended
- Websearch: whoops! well, hey, how are ya. I enjoy your blog.
- chris.pirillo: thanks
- Websearch: feel free to check out my site anytime at websearch.about.com (gratuitous plug)
- chris.pirillo: ooooooooooh
- promise to keep a secret? :)
- Websearch: hope that's a good sound
- chris.pirillo: you have to SWEAR
- Websearch: yes, sure
- chris.pirillo: because it's not ready, and we'll die if it leaks.
- Websearch: pinky swear
- chris.pirillo: i will seriously hunt you down. because i don't know you. :)
- Websearch: holy cow...
- chris.pirillo: LOL
- well, it's serious.
- Websearch: okay (averting eyes)
- chris.pirillo: :)
- you know how it's a PITA to use a cell phone to hit the web?
- Websearch: sure - big time.
- chris.pirillo: the other day, i registered gada.be - which is 4232.2233 on a PSP or cell. Instead of having to go to a page before entering your search query, with this, you enter the query as the subdomain. ;) http://wendy-boswell.gada.be/
- Websearch: cool beans!
- chris.pirillo: Layout isn't ready yet... public beta within a week.
- Websearch: so this would be technically a scoop then?
- chris.pirillo: try another term... hit refresh... random results... vendor neutral... and we'll be outputting results into OPML for easy import into a news aggregator. ;) one stop shop.
- eh, kinda... i'm letting select folks know about it.
- Websearch: well, thankyaverymuch.
- chris.pirillo: clean, uncluttered, driven on RSS... results oriented. and, easy to get to from a mobile device. :)
- instead of tagging to a technorati, you could tag to this and get links to 'em all...
- chris.pirillo: we'll be selling ads after we release it in beta... that part isn't ready yet. right now, it's adsense revenue.
"The first metasearch engine to be powered by the efficient fuel of RSS technology, Gada.be, went live on Monday.Gada.be strips away the multiple layers necessary to search, which is particularly painful for those attempting to visit a Web site over a mobile device.
Instead of plugging in a URL for a search engine, then visiting each page in search results, visitors can merely type in their search term as a subdomain with "gada.be" at the end.
What results is a savable, transportable URL whose results are constantly refreshed, as the search results are returned in RSS feeds.
The engine is the brainchild of Chris Pirillo, a multifaceted technology journalist, author and creator of the award-winning Lockergnome series of online publications. Developer Shayne Sweeney is the technical brains behind Gada.be. "
