Yahoo Advanced Web Search with Creative Commons and Subscriptions

Sunday October 2, 2005
I don't know how long this has been up, but while fooling around with Yahoo today I noticed that they have added Creative Commons in their Advanced Search page. Creative Commons "is a nonprofit organization offering a flexible copyright for creative work", so basically when you check off the CC search box on the Yahoo Advanced Search page, you're searching pages that have a Creative Commons license.

Also, at the bottom of the Advanced Search page, you'll see the ability to search Subscriptions. The text states: "Select from the sites below to include their content in your web search results. To view content you will need a subscription to the site(s) below. For some sites you will need to pay for the subscription." The content includes Consumer Reports, LexisNexis, and Factiva. Both of these search services are in beta.
