Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Phillippe
Wednesday September 21, 2005
Here we go again - Hurricane Rita is making her way towards the already storm-battered Gulf Coast, with Hurricane Phillippe not too far behind.. The image below is from the National Hurricane Center Tropical Predictions.

Most of the resources for Hurricane Katrina are equipped to help you keep track of Hurricane Rita as well, but here's more sources specifically for this new storm:

- CNN is doing a pretty good job of keeping track of Rita; right now, the blurb on the front page just about broke my heart: "Evacuating parents are being told to take with them photos of their children and to give them identification in case they get separated." I can't even imagine.
- Disaster Center: Includes satellite images, moving representations of what Rita is doing, and up to the minute updates. As of 5 PM EST Wednesday, Rita is officially a category 5 hurricane.
- Hurricane Rita Advisory Archive: National Hurricane Center's stock of public advisory statements for Hurricane Rita.
- Hurricane Rita, a barebones site with lots of good stuff including latitude/longitude data, animated storm movement, and forecasted storm track plotting.
