AOL Opens Up Mobile Storefronts
Tuesday August 16, 2005
From InternetWeek, I just read AOL is launching a mobile phone storefront capability. Mobile phone customers will be able to "get product news on mobile phones, compare prices and features, download games and learn how to access AOL services. Consumers also can build a personal mobile portal that's geared toward receiving features and services available for their particular phone model and service provider combination, officials with Dulles, Va.-based, AOL, a division of Time Warner Inc., said."
I've been doing a ton of research on mobile search and the possibilities that are starting to emerge; I should have an article summarizing some of my findings by the end of the month. Just think about it - we spend a lot of time on our cells; isn't it logical that this "third screen" will eventually give us the same access to the Web as other more traditional mediums?
