FatManWalking.com, Site of the Day

Follow me on:

Most of us have struggled with weight issues at some time or another in our lives, and there are various ways to deal with it: diet, exercise, therapy, midnight runs to Krispy Kreme. One man decided that he needed to walk across the United States, and thus was born the extremely popular FatManWalking.com. Via CNet.com:
"Steve Vaught--a 350-pound self-described "Forrest Lump" who's walking across the country to shed weight--has the same such following, only his real-life fame has been fueled by the Internet.

Tens of thousands of people are regularly checking in on 39-year-old Vaught's progress through his busy Web site, TheFatManWalking.com. Vaught's wife, April, who has been penning his online journal, alludes to a Web audience of about 100,000, and that was before Vaught was featured on the "Today" show earlier this month. "

I admire this man's moxie, but unfortunately most of us can't just take off from work and walk across the country; however, I plan on following his progress.

I read your article today in The Dallas Morning News, 11/26/05, and you brought tears to my eyes. You are an inspiration to everyone, domestically and internationally, and did your personal journey without trying to draw attention to yourself. You did it with humility, grace, and your own determination with the will that God gave you. God is very proud of you and may he continue to bless you immensely with your own strength and courage that you didn’t even know you had inside your blessed self. With God, all things are possible and ignore all the negative comments from your adversary that would like to spoil because he is jealous and envious of the the richness you have acquired within yourself. You are your light that shines so brightly within your heart, your wife, your children, and simply asked for nothing in return by taking care of yourself.

I am from India & I have been reading about Steve’s determination . He has started off something for the younger generations to think about — OBESITY — a Big Problem that the US is facing with . He should now start giving talks to kids in Middle & senior level schools about his walk & his experiences .
Congrats Steve once agin for attaining your Goal.
GOD BLESS

Steve,
Napolean Hill once said: Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve. To bring to attention the problem in America of being FAT with your website and easy to figure out website is admirable. America is FAT because America is lazy. You can begin with fast foods, drive thru, ATM’s, pizzas, hamburgers and fries. You are truly representative of what alot (60%) Americans look like today. You stop being lazy by doing something active instead, you go big guy. America admires your courage and guts!

You grit and determination are impressive. When you woke each day, you needed to decide whether or not you were gonna continue this seemingly endless journey and your daily answer was “yes”. I’m impressed and inspired…gk

Not that it matters now. But I didn’t sell the site. I failed to register it on time and someone else bought it up. But it was a mirror site I was forced to buy from someone else. The real site is still
http://www.thefatmanwalking.com and still up and running.
