YubNub-Funny Name, Good Tool

Monday July 11, 2005
YubNub.org is a social command line for the Web. It basically gives you a way to shortcut searches that you commonly execute on the Web. You can create your own command and then anyone can use it (as long as it works!). I just made one that uses Google to search this site: searchweb. Try making your own command, or check out the list of golden eggs, especially useful YubNub commands.

  • Indeed.com: I wrote about this job search engine last week, and I've been using it to create specialized job alerts for my S.O.
  • Search Engines and RSS: Ever since I found out about services such as del.icio.us and Bloglines, I've been an RSS addict. I get all my feeds and social bookmarks for the day in one place, rather than poking around for them in search engines. Mind you, I'm not downplaying search engines. I don't think they're going anywhere. But I think that RSS will give them a run for their money, literally.
