Microsoft Longhorn and RSS

At the Gnomedex conference these last few days in Seattle, which I would have dearly loved to attend but didn't (next time!), Microsoft unveiled officially its plans to ship RSS support with its Longhorn operating platform, due to roll out sometime in the near future. According to BetaNews:

"As reported Friday, Longhorn will provide a common RSS feed list across all applications, common RSS data store for applications to access downloaded content, and an RSS platform sync engine. Subscribing to an RSS feed from within Internet Explorer 7.0 will be similar to adding a Web site to "Favorites." An icon placed in a toolbar will illuminate when feeds have been updated with new content."

Niall Kennedy of Technorati was able to get some pictures of Longhorn, Internet Explorer 7, and RSS; and how they all will work together.
