I just read about a great blog search engine called
Blogdigger that enables the user to search for blogs in their local area. This service is kind of like Google's Local Search or MSN's Local search that I
referenced in an earlier blog post; however, this is different because Blogdigger attempts to locate blogs that are in your actual geographic location. Notice I said "attempts", Blogdigger at this writing does not have every single place in the United States (right now it's limited to finding blogs in the US) mapped out. However, it's a great new feature and should be a fun one to try.
Make sure when you use the Local feature that you frame your query like this: Portland, OR rather than Portland, Oregon. For some reason it won't work when you write out the entire state name, but only if you put the two-letter abbreviation.
Hi,
While not a search engine, you might want to look at Grokodile. It’s a blog directory that is organized based on geography.

Frugal Guy
Hello,
Blogdigger can not search for Washington State because they don’t use DC or District of Columbia. Instead there are only 49 states at Blogdigger now. Washington State does not exist. There is no way to get in touch with Blogdigger and … People online don’t use email or communicate. Oh well, their loss.
